Inlet Cluster is a townhouse community in Reston, VA with 63 townhomes that is surrounded by tall trees and adjacent to the picturesque Lake Anne with its lovely walking paths and Van Gogh bridge. It’s a community that combines opportunities for daily work and school routines with beautiful scenes of nature that, in most other communities, would require traveling by car to see. But here the beauty is right outside our kitchen windows, and just a few steps away, whatever the season: gorgeous wildflowers edge the lake in the spring and summer, brilliant fall colors adorn the lake edges, a fountain modeled on the famous Geneva fountain sends white plumes of water arching across the lake surface, or—in winter—white snowdrift leave powdery trails across the frozen lake surface. With their stucco and wood trim exteriors, and private courtyard patios, the townhomes—build in the early 1970s—have a look that is reminiscent of the Mediterranean region. Inlet Cluster is situated on about 12.5 acres on a gradually sloping hillside between Wiehle Avenue and Lake Anne, where an inlet that is part of the community has a boat dock and seating area. The community contains carports assigned to each homeowner, as well as open assigned spaces and unassigned on-street parking. The homes are arranged around a common area with the carports, paths, attractive foliage, and a playground. It is about a one-half mile walk from here to the stores and restaurants of Lake Anne Plaza and about a mile and a half to the Reston Town Center. The end station of the Metro line is at Wiehle-Reston, which is about 1.2 miles from Inlet Cluster. Grocery stores and pharmacies are plentiful within a two mile radius of the community, and many businesses and other employers are situated in the Reston-Herndon area. Dulles International Airport is about a 15-minute drive away from Inlet Cluster, and can be reached via a Silver Line express bus if one prefers not to drive. Despite these extraordinary conveniences and easy connections to any other spot in the world, Inlet Cluster is also remarkable for its peacefulness. The noise of traffic is minimal, and more common—especially at night---is the relaxing and quiet atmosphere. Living here is a step back to a simpler time, yet with all the amenities of the modern world.
